“Mom... Mom?.. I'm goin' out.”
“Where to?”
“With my friends, y'know?“
“Well, be careful, watch for the traffic an' stuff.”
“Mom, I'm almost seven billion years old, I can look after myself.”
“Okay son, but if you have to cross the universe make sure you look both ways before you set off.”
“I will mom.”
“And son...?”
“Yeah mom?”
“Are you wearin' clean underwear?”

Even alien mums are worried about their kids crossing the road and whether they've got clean underwear on! :)
ReplyDeleteHeheh! Yeah, it's definitely a mum thing, isn't it? :-)
DeleteLOL mothers no matter where they are are all the same! Made me laugh (being a mother and all) ^__^
ReplyDeleteI can remember having this same conversation when I was a kid, I think at seven years old I couldn't make the connection between clean underwear and getting hit by a bus that my mum could. LOL!!
DeleteSeven billion years old... A meteor, split off a mega-planet?
ReplyDeleteHI John, I dunno what they are, but they do live to be very, very old, his Mom would be about thirty billion years old. :-)
DeleteFolk wisdom older than creation itself...
ReplyDeleteHeheh! I wonder what the caveman version of this would have been?
Delete"Son, are you wearin' clean fur?" :-)
I suppose age is a relative thing, isn't it? Fun piece.
ReplyDeleteHi Richard, and thank you.
DeleteYeah, this was just a bit of silliness on my part, but the concept amused me, I just transferred the idea to beings that lived much longer than us, of course as usual I had to go to the extreme. :-)
Ha! Like that classic Trek episode with the alien kid that kept wanting to play with Kirk and the gang. :D
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, yeah I remember that one, he was a god, and his parents ended up grounding him. :-)
DeleteNice one. We both did silly little dialog pieces this week.
ReplyDeleteHi Tim, and thank you.
DeleteI think silly dialogue helps the world to be a happier place. :-)
Love it! I thought it was a solar system talking to its parent galaxy. Like they do.
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine, you may be right about that, I didn't have any sort of mental image about this, it was just the thought that amused me. :-)
DeleteI have the weirdest mental images of galactic underwear now...
ReplyDeleteHiya Icy, yeah, maybe Milky way boxers? :-)
DeleteHaha, aw bless them moms! Sometimes they have the most ridiculous concerns.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Moms are brilliant aren't they? When we are young we don't always understand the logic of some of the things they say, come to think of it, I'm not sure I understand it even now. :-)
