On my way back up
I'm on my way back up now.
Yes, I made mistakes, a great deal of them if I am honest with myself.
It was my first time, but I don't use inexperience for excuse, I still made mistakes.
I didn't make the best choice at every fork in the road, who does?
I always did what I thought was right, at least I think I did.
I believe that I did what I thought I should do.
Mostly though, it didn't work out like I thought it would.
And now I have another chance.
I'm through the planks, but the soil is still above me.
And I'm on my way back up.

Oh he's come back to life? But how? The big question now in my mind is what is he? Vamp, walking dead or escapologist ^_^ I just have to know!
ReplyDeleteHI Helen, I thought I would let each reader decide for themselves what he is. (I'm awful, aren't I? ) Bwuhahahahahahah!! :-)
DeleteEeeek! Why did I read this at bedtime? Curses!
ReplyDeleteSorry Catherine, I hope you still managed to sleep, and that there were no planks above you when you woke up. :-)
DeleteCertainly makes ya think! Is he a ghost? A vampire? An earthworm? or is it a metaphor for changing one's life? Hmmmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, whatever he is, I think he hopes to do better the second time around, I'm not sure everyone else will be pleased to see him though, graves do not usually enhance a person's appearance. :-)
DeleteWow, I thought he was contemplating his major life lessons but nope....or maybe this could be one of them - The One. :) Good misdirection there Steve!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deanna, I almost expanded this one, but decided that I liked the vagueness of it. :-)
DeleteSee you for dinner, Lazarus!
ReplyDeleteHeheh!! Put the kettle on John. :-)
DeleteI like the creepy feel to this, but there's a part of my brain wondering if he should have turned left at Albuquerque. :D

Haha!! Y'know Tim, I think that might have made all the difference. :-)
DeleteSo he's reincarnated as a daisy? Or a zombie.
ReplyDeleteBut tee hee, until the planks and soil showed up, I'd thought you'd got inspiration from internationally-famous-for-being-out-of-control Toronto mayoral embarrassment Rob Ford.
Haha!! I had to google Rob Ford, I don't think he'll be getting a second chance once he's gone. :-)
DeleteOoh I like this! I think his spirit is being released. Wonder who he'll haunt first?
ReplyDeleteHi Tina, and welcome. :-)
DeleteGlad that you liked this, I don't know about who he may be haunting, but I'll bet they won't be too pleased to see him on their doorstep.
